My name is Enayatullah Safi. I was born in Afghanistan and came to Denmark in 2001 as a refugee. I have a BA in Political Science from the University of Copenhagen. I started my journey in the food world in earnest 5 years ago when I founded DHABA Indian Street Food.
I am often asked why I work with food and over time I have realized that food is like emotions - something we all share. A dish is not a dish, a dish is history, culture and love added as ingredients and served on a plate.

For the past 5 years, I have not only been working with ingredients and creating dishes. Food has taken me on many different journeys such as diplomatic dinner in New Delhi with our Prime Ministers, free lunch for nursing homes in my restaurants, pop ups. All these have made me realize that food is the most powerful tool when it comes to dealing with human diversity. Eating together creates the opportunity to talk about our differences and gives room for explanation, which is the path to better understanding. For me, it's always been about using food as a tool to make differences and promote better understanding of what is foreign and unknown to us.
